Isaiah 31:1(NIV)

1. Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, And rely on horses, Who trust in chariots because they are many, And in horsemen because they are very strong, But who do not look to the Holy One of Israel, Nor seek the Lord!

In The book of Exodus Moses describes the how God delivered the Nation of Israel from a life of slavery and their journey to the Promised Land. It is interesting that as soon as they encountered trials on their journey, the people were quick to want to go back to Egypt and return to their old way of life. I believe that the reason that they wanted to go back to Egypt and a life filled with bondage and suffering is because in Egypt, they would at least know what to expect. Sometimes knowing what to expect is more comforting than having to face the uncertain future.

Isaiah 31 says, “Woe to those who go down to Egypt” and who are looking for help in places outside of the Lord. The same is true for us today. As Christians, we have God’s Holy Spirit who is our Helper and our Comforter. Trials and hard times are inevitable in our lives because we live in a fallen world that brings sorrows and pains. Though we will be tempted at times to give up and to go back to what is familiar or comfortable, we must press on towards the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Do not put your trust in the strength of men or money or worldly power, but put your trust in the Lord. Turn your eyes to Jesus and He will lead the way.

God bless you is my prayer!!!
