Galatians 6:9(NIV)

9. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

I believe the worst enemy of enthusiasm is time. As time rolls on human beings get tired of even wonderful things. All of us can think of at least one thing that we were enthusiastic about at one time, but now the joy has faded.

Every year, Trish and I go to the coast for rest and relaxation. That first day the sunrise is breathtaking over the eastern ocean. But by the end of the week, I hardly notice it anymore because my thoughts are turned towards home and ministry.

Do you remember when you first started serving God by working in your church? You know, teaching Sunday School, working on committees, attending Bible Study or whatever the Lord laid on your heart to do? In the beginning you felt fresh and strong in the Holy Ghost as you served faithfully… but now you have grown weary in well doing. The freshness is gone and it sometimes it feels like The Holy Ghost has too. Your work becomes a chore. The wine has run out!

But Galatians 6:9 says, "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Now that does not mean that you can never stop one job and start another. If you do not know what the well-doing is that we must not get tired of, probably the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22 is the best answer. We should never get tired of doing right! When we do, it becomes easy to yield to the flesh. And Paul says that if you stop sowing to the Spirit and sow to your own flesh, you will not reap eternal life, but eternal corruption. (Gal. 6:8)

It pleases God when we stick with doing right. It releases Him to do good things in our life and even bless us with the godly desires of our heart. Doing good produces a harvest for you and in you.

Be patient Beloved. God has a plan for you that includes joy that this world could never give.

So keep giving of yourself, keep loving, keep praying, keep treating others with respect, keep studying the Word, keep attending church, keep working in church, keep doing what you know to be right, “for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

God bless you is my prayer!!!
