Hebrews 12:1-2 (NKJV)

1. Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2. looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Satan is good at causing “roadside distractions” that tempt us to look at him rather than at Jesus. If he can get our attention, he may be able to get us off track and delay our spiritual progress.

Satan even tried to deter Jesus by suggesting a “better” way to accomplish His work. Suggesting Jesus prove He was God’s Son, by throwing Himself from the temple (Luke 4:9-11). But Jesus knew that proving He was God’s Son would come by submitting Himself to the cross, not by flinging Himself from a high building.

The way to stay out of spiritual ditches is to fix our eyes on Jesus and refuse to even glance at Satan’s distractions.

BELIEVE IN ORDER TO RECEIVE.
