Deuteronomy 15:7-8 (NKJV)

7 “If there is among you a poor man of your brethren, within any of the gates in your land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother, 8 but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs.

God expects generosity for the poor from His people. In Deuteronomy 15, Moses emphasized the reality of poverty and how the more affluent must deal with it. He warns them of 4 dangers.

1. A hard heart, ignoring the needs of the poor.
2. A closed hand, withholding what the poor lacked.
3. An evil thought, hesitating or refusing to loan money to the poor because the year of canceling debt was nearing.
4. A grudging spirit,a reluctance to satisfy the needs of the poor among them.

There must always be a spirit of generosity toward the poor among God’s people. Open your hearts as well as your hands, having a spirit of spontaneous generosity.

Generosity stems from a heart that has experienced God’s Grace.

BELIEVE IN ORDER TO RECEIVE.
