DAILY BIBLE VERSE

St. Mark 6:30 – 31(NIV)

30. The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught.

31. Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with Me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”

Are you getting up this morning to start your week but you are still tired? Have you ever been so exhausted that that you felt like sleeping for a week? Well, I know how you feel as I have often felt that way.

It seems like there is always so much to do or so much that demands our attention. There is always somewhere to go, someone to see or some event that we have to attend. Life is filled with activity that never stops and our bodies are crying out for rest. Yes, we have to go to work, church, school , shopping, exercise and the list goes on but The Lord wants us to get some rest!

Jesus knew that His disciples were tired from all the activity they had engaged in; he knew they were excited about the results of their labor and He was glad to hear about it but He knew that their bodies needed physical rest. So Jesus invited them to come rest with Him in a quiet place.

We, too, need to refresh ourselves to maintain physical and spiritual strength. Our schedules are demanding. They drain our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual life. God’s Holy Spirit gives us strength for His schedule for us. I believe God plans for us to include times of rest and relaxation in our schedule. If the disciples needed rest, so do we.

Beloved, take some time away from all the activity of life and spend it resting with your family and The Lord. You can take a vacation where you can rest and relax or simply a respite right where you are. Time spent with the Lord brings renewal and refreshment.

God bless you is my prayer!!!
