Jeremiah 17:9-10 (NIV)

9 The heart is deceitful above all things
and beyond cure.
Who can understand it?
10 “I the LORD search the heart
and examine the mind,
to reward each person according to their conduct,
according to what their deeds deserve.”

Our hearts have been drawn toward sin from the time we were born. It is easy to fall onto the routine of forgetting and forsaking God.

But we can still choose whether or not to continue in sin. Either we can yield to a particular temptation, or we can ask God to help us resist. (read more & comment…)

Jeremiah 10:23-24 (NIV)

Jeremiah’s Prayer

23 LORD, I know that people’s lives are not their own;
it is not for them to direct their steps.

24 Discipline me, LORD, but only in due measure—
not in your anger,
or you will reduce me to nothing.

God’s ability to plan our lives well is extremely beyond our ability to plan. Sometimes we are afraid of God’s power and God’s plans because we know His power could easily crush us if He chose to use it against us.

Don’t be afraid to let God correct your plans. He will give you wisdom if you are willing. (read more & comment…)

Jeremiah 10:2-3 (KJV)

2. Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
3. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.

Everyone would like to know what their future holds. It would make decision making easier, failures avoided, and successes assured. Unfortunately, man cannot predict the future.

But God, who promises to guide us, knows our future and will be with us all the w ay. He may not reveal your complete future to you, but He will walk with you as the future unfolds.

Don’t trust the stars for what your future holds, trust the One who created the stars. (read more & comment…)

Jeremiah 3:15 (KJV)

15. And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

We look to and trust our leaders for guidance and direction, but if they do not follow God, they will lead us astray.
God promised to give His people leaders who would follow Him, filled with wisdom and understanding.

Pray for God-honoring leaders over our nations, communities, and churches, leaders who will be good examples and bring God’s wisdom to His people. (read more & comment…)

Jeremiah 1:19 (KJV)

19. And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee.

The problems we face today may seem threatening, but they are critical to us and sometimes may even overwhelm us!

But God’s promise to us is that nothing will defeat us completely; He will help us through the most agonizing problems.

Let’s face each day with the assurance that God will be with us and see us through. (read more & comment…)

Jeremiah 1:6-8 (KJV)

6. Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.
7. But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.
8. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord.

Often we struggle with new challenges because of lack of self-confidence. We feel we have inadequate ability, training, or experience. But God promises to be with us. We must never allow feelings of inadequacy to keep us from obeying God for He will always be there.

When you find yourself avoiding something you know you should be doing, be careful not to use lack of self-confidence as an excuse.

If God gives you a job, do it. He will provide all you need to get the Job done. (read more & comment…)

Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV)

5. Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Every Christian has a purpose in this life, but some are appointed or should I say anointed by God for a specific kind of work. But whatever you do, should be done for the Glory of God.

If God gives you a specific task, accept it cheerfully and do it in excellence.

If God has not yet given you a specific task, then seek to fulfill the mission common to all believers, to love, obey and serve God until a time comes that His guidance over your life becomes more clear.

For we all have a purpose in God’s creation. (read more & comment…)

Isaiah 43:25 (KJV)

25. I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.

How tempting it is to remind someone of a past offence! But when God forgives our sins He totally forgets them. We never have to fear that He will remind us of them later.

Because God forgave us, we need to forgive others. (read more & comment…)

Isaiah 42:6-7 (KJV)

6. I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;
7. To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

Part of Christ’s mission on earth was to demonstrate God’s righteousness and to be a light to all nations. Through Christ, all people have the opportunity to share in His mission. God calls us to be servants of His son, demonstrating God’s righteousness and bringing His light.

But we must seek His righteousness before we can demonstrate it to others, and let His light shine in us before we can be lights ourselves. (read more & comment…)

Isaiah 40:29-31 (KJV)

29. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31. But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Even the strongest people get tired at times, but God’s power and strength never diminish. He is never too tired or too busy to help and listen. His strength is our source of strength.

When you feel life is crushing you, and you can’t seem to take another step, remember that you can always call upon God to renew your strength. (read more & comment…)

God gives His people the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, but He promises to be with us, teach us, and guide us painful; but He does this out of love for us.

Isaiah 5:20 (KJV)

20. Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

When people do not carefully observe the distinction between good and evil, destruction soon follows. A common phrase people use is, “No one can decide for anyone else what is right or wrong.”

When we make excuses for our actions, we break down the distinction between right and wrong. When we refuse to take God’s Word, the Bible, as our standard, soon all moral choices appear fuzzy.

Without God, we are headed for a breakdown and much suffering. (read more & comment…)

10. I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

God shows His righteousness and faithfulness to His people in His offer of salvation.

When we feel the impact of God’s righteousness on our lives, we cannot keep it hidden. We have a need to tell other people what God has done for us. A person’s words are measured by the quality of his or her character. If your friends trust what you say, it’s because they trust you. If you trust what God says, it’s because you trust Him to be the God He claims to be. If you doubt His words, you doubt the integrity of God Himself.
